Cipher (Cipher #1) by Cindi Madsen Spotlight and Review

cipher Cipher (Cipher #1)

Summer Davis sees deaths before they happen. She attempts to live a normal life by focusing on the dance team and her quarterback boyfriend. But then the way-too-cheery Angel of Death shows up and tells her she’s a Cipher—a person chosen to help people who are going to die resolve problems with their loved ones. Ashlyn Moore, one of Summer’s classmates, is going to die, and she needs Summer’s help before that happens.

It’s nearly impossible to get through to Ashlyn, who surrounds herself with chess nerds and geeks and makes it clear she doesn’t want to be friends. Desperate to complete her Cipher task before it’s too late, Summer turns to Troy, the guy who’s always been there for her and one of the few people she can trust. With his help, she makes progress. In fact, the closer she gets to Ashlyn and her friends, the more she feels like she’s finally found where she belongs.

As the clock starts running down on Ashlyn’s life, Summer decides to change her objective. She’s going to save her new friend before it’s too late—even if it means messing with fate.

5 Stars

First off this was a fabulous YA book. I absolutely love any books that I have read from this author. The characters are really well developed. The book had a seamless flow from beginning to end. If high school wasn’t tough enough you find out from the Angel of Death herself that you are a descendant in a long line of people that are Ciphers which help people that are close to dying make peace with a family member. Summer doesn’t like the new job she is given but who would she must make friends with a girl from school and it makes it harder that she is really coming to love the friendship that is coming to knowing that she is going to lose this girl. Getting visions of someones death is hard for anyone to deal with but for a young girl I think it would be twice as hard. Especially after losing her mom and feeling so much guilt from that puts alot of strain on Summer. I highly recommend this great YA book by Cindi Madsen and also highly recommend any book she has written. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series to see where things go for Summer after her first assignment was so traumatic for her.

cindimadsen About the Author

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
