Previously Hired Gun Serial. Complete novel.
Review by Stephanie Shaw
The Sicarii is a compilation of the first 4 serials in the Hired Gun series. Even though this is a collection of shorter stories combined, it reads like one fluid book. I have read and enjoyed other books by the same authors and loved them all. This is no exception. I love how the book combines Greek and Norse mythology in modern day times. This is something I’ve never read before, and it’s a refreshing twist.
Thorne Hollow is a stone cold killer for hire. It’s his job, and he’s good at it. He takes pleasure in ending the existence of the lowest of the low. On his down time he goes through women like Paula Dean goes through butter. He never lets a woman stay the night. Once he’s gotten his fill, he shoves them out the door, with or without their clothes. It all changes the night that ‘SHE’ walks into his favorite bar. There’s something about her that he can’t quite put his finger on. She intrigues him like no other. For the first time, he finally lets someone spend the night. But when he wakes up in the morning to a major surprise, he can’t believe his eyes. He doesn’t know what to do. He’s tempted to end her life but tosses her out instead. Who is this beautiful creature that has him so bewitched? While he’s digging up dirt on her, he is tasked with the ultimate job, and the fate of the world as we know it relies his ability to complete it. He also learns that this woman is tied to his assignment. Will he be able to fulfill his mission, or will this odd woman throw a wrench in his plans and change the outcome?
Thorne is a complex character. I didn’t fall in love with him right off the bat. He kind of grew on me like moss grows on a tree. You know it’s not the best for the tree, but it looks pretty and helps you find a true north. His ‘better than you’ attitude and womanizing ways make him less than desirable, but you kind of feel sorry for him when you learn what has hardened his heart. I enjoyed the supporting characters. Nike was such a hoot. I have a real soft spot for Benny, and I look forward to reading more of his story in the future. I can’t wait to see what else AJ Bennett and Julia Crane have in store for us in the future!

What was there not to like about Thorne Hollow: he was a sexy and bad ass outcast immortal with a buried heart of gold. Kataya is his soulmate in a shape shifting body. When the two meet, all hell literally breaks loose. The secondary characters of Benny Deuces and Nike were a great addition to the story line and kept the story rounded.
Why I gave it 4.5 stars? The story’s conclusion was a little too easy and more information on the Sicarii was needed. I felt something was missing and this was the best I could come up with….Either way a good read.

Great series! OMG, I loved how you needn’t know anything at all about Greek mythology to follow along easily. And the way the author kept you guessing and on your toes was nothing short of amazing.

This is the first book by A J Bennet that I have read and I loved it! I loved that it was a short story and didn’t go off into a lot of directions like a lot of books usually do. Thorne is this sexy half breed immortal that belongs to this assassin group. He is paid to kill mortals and immortals when a contact is put out on them. His best friend Benny is also in the group and they help each other out not that Thorne needs any help. He is definitely not a one woman man..He likes to keep it interesting in the bedroom! Never lets any women spend the night . Then Kataya comes along and he is so drawn to her and doesn’t know why. She is very secretive with him and he doesn’t know a thing about her. I enjoyed trying to figure out Katays intentions and what her big secret was! The sex scenes were well written. I recommend this book to anyone 18+ and anyone who is into paranormal! I will be checking out AJs other books for sure!

To start I love Author A.J. Bennett’s books,
This is and awesome short story that continues as a serial, and will leave you wanting more with every page that you turn.
A Handsome lead character, that’s not only gorgeous in description, but an Imortal as well! Loving paranormal like I do this was a total treat for me.
It is unique, a fast pace read that is beautifully written, ohh did I mention it has shifters!! Yes An overall must read can’t wait for Book #2
As the Plot thickens in book #2, You will fall in love more and more with Thorne. This story is steamer, and more intriguing. Having his parents in the picture makes it even more interesting him being an Immortal, and his parents God’s. He is obsessed with finding Kataya a (Chameleon) after sleeping with her, and she taking the appereance of his deseased wife, there is something about her he can’t shake off. Sleeping around and kicking butt with his Buddy Benny, is one way that he feels will get her off his mind, but he can’t help but ask more questions, and getting the answers as to why she is so important.
Again this is a short story with a smooth pace, it is hotter and sexier, that will have you asking more questions, and leave you waiting on the next book with anticipation.
I recieved a copy for an unbias review
Book #3 continues with a great flow and a small recap of what has already happened in book 1&2,, the hunt is on and Thorne is not letting down. Kataya seems to be the center of everyones interest. With a demon Mayor who now is also with interest in Kataya, and thorne’s next assignment, It leaves Thorne and Benny very busy in trying to find her even moreso. With Athena, Thorne’s mother more involed, it has totaly peaked my interest.
Can’t wait to see what develops in book #3. This is a must read Serial Novella. It’s a page turner and for short story it makes it even more hard to wait on the next book, but so well worth it.
I was given a copy for an unbias opinion.
I found this book to be more of a fast in read, With Thorne and Benny still doing their thing, and trying to figure out why all the mystery and lies that follow Kataya for some reason his late wife has so much to do with it. With the Mayor still trying to become President, Thorne and Benny’s job gets a little harder. I’ve become more interested in Benny as well, he has alot about him that interest me and would love to hear more of him as well.
This Novella has such a potential to come out with more stories and spin-off’s!!
I was gifted a copy for an unbiased opinion.
